Molded Dimensions is Essential Business: Open and Shipping Product.

The Coronavirus situation continues to change daily. Here are the updates from Molded Dimensions.

1) Employees: We are initiating work from home for positions where this is possible. Our manufacturing employees, and other essential staff, in Wisconsin continue to report for work and production continues as normal. In addition to regular workplace sanitizing, we continue to provide ways to social distance ourselves and reduce cross-contamination between departments and facilities.

2) Raw Material Supply: We continue to monitor our supply base to assure our raw material stock is available to provide uninterrupted supply for our customers.

3) Production Commitment: Our manufacturing employees are considered "Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers." We do not plan to shut down manufacturing and shipping unless required to do so by governmental restrictions.

Best regards,

Rubber To Metal Adhesion

July 29, 2016

silicone-partsThe processes of adhering rubber Silicone Parts – Molded Dimensionsto metal components are widespread techniques in the rubber industry. Generally the same considerations and procedures are applicable for rubber to rigid non-metallic components, but the adhesion values may be lower. Various adhesion levels can be obtained. For instance, to obtain adhesion on critical products, such as engine mounts, very close controls are required, both on metal and rubber preparation. Some products may require only enough adhesion for assembly. The adhesion level (tear/tensile strength) is directly affected by type of metal, surface preparation, non-metallic inserts, compound composition, curing conditions, and type of adhesive. EPDM, A Go-To Material

July 1, 2016

screen-shot-2016-07-01-at-9-08-17-amEPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene) has many exceptional qualities making it a go-to elastomeric material.  EPDM is thermoset, meaning that it is cured with elevated heat.  This curing process transforms the material by cross-linking individual chains of the polymer, resulting in a solid material that cannot be melted and reshaped after curing.  As a synthetic, it is manufactured from petroleum rather than latex tapped from the rubber tree.  Its primary material properties include outstanding heat, ozone, and weather resistance.  Further enhancing those properties, EPDM is resistant to alkalis, acids, and oxygenated solvents, along with water and steam.  Continue reading
